About Lisa
My name is Lisa Martin, I am a single parent of a child with fragile X syndrome, ADHD, sensory processing disorder and autism with PDA. I have struggled; from trying to get the correct diagnosis for my child Iggy, to getting enough sleep to be able function. I understand the isolation and constant struggles we all face daily in our special world
I have facilitated courses for 5 years at The Markfield Project, a charity based in Tottenham North London, working with children and adults with additional needs, teaching such topics as, communication skills, including Makaton, the use and benefits of visual aids, sensory child, developmental movement play, autism awareness and positive behaviour strategies.
I have learnt and put into practice many of these strategies and they have helped me create a positive relationship with my child, and which will allow my child to reach his full potential and want to share them with you to help you and your child thrive.
I understand the isolation and constant struggles trying to navigate the system to get the best support for your special child, and have decided to share and teach other parents what I have learnt.
I am passionate about empowering other parents who are dedicated to their special child.
This why I have created Special World Training, so as to be able to offer specific courses to help with various needs of the child. They are available as live events and online.
My Podcast series The Good,The Bad and The Ugly is all about getting people talking and sharing their experiences of our special world of disability and additional needs.
I realised that many parents who came along to my courses, also benefited from talking to other, having fun and having a sense of belonging in a safe environment, so I am creating the Feel Good in a Challenging World event which will run weekly in term time. I am trained in positive self-care techniques, such as Yoga, Breathing techniques, Visualisations, NLP, EFT, TFT and coaching, many of these positive strategies and techniques are used in the Feel Good courses to enable parents/carers to use them themselves on a daily basis.
